Singapore 2019: [Part 2] Around Marina Bay

Bayfront MRT Station is connected directly to an entrance of The Shoppes at Marina Bay. To my right was a Casino entrance with a faint wiff of smoke scented interiors. Up ahead was an indoor water canal inspired by Venice, lined with upscale fashion brands on both sides. Chinese style boats reminiscent of gondolas were available if you wanted to have a short ride. Oh, this houses the Sands Theater as well. Aladdin was being shown during our visit.

Walking further brings you to another indoor body of water, a waterfall, which is like a smaller version of Jewel Changi’s vortex. Being a waterfront property at Marina Bay, of course there just had to be a viewing deck on the ground floor.

Just a few steps away was the white lotus structure of the Arts Science Museum. A mini pond with purple lilies just kept calling me for a photo op.

A lone Louis Vuitton boutique “floats” off the bay, anchored like a boat by a pathway from the viewing deck. Completing the view of the Marina bay area was the Singapore Flyer, Esplanade, Super Trees, a bit further across was the Merlion statue, and right behind me the Marina Bay Sands hotel.

The original plan was to go to the TeamLab Future World exhibit this afternoon and eat at a hawker center. But I guess time wasn’t on our side that day since the ticketing line was so long and it was only about an hour before the exhibit closes. We rescheduled this to Monday, before my flight back home. *It actually turned out great, small crowd and virtually no lines!*

Anyway, we had a good time taking photos of each other featuring the view I described above. Got some good shots with the sunset nearing.

The train ride, catching up chats, under the pre-sunset photoshoot, made us thirsty. For some reason the thought of boba tea popped up and we searched the nearest store. Good thing there was one right in the food court of the mall. We bought drinks from R&B Tea.
