Leyte 2019: [01] The First Flight

First time to snag a Piso Fare from Cebu Pacific. Legit one peso base fare only! I know, Piso Fare has been around for years now but I never seemed to chance upon the coveted 1-peso-base-fare for destinations I wanted – until this booking. Round trip ticket costs less than Php 1,000 only! Cheaper than a dinner buffet. Flight times weren’t exactly ideal as it was the last flight out of Manila, and the first return flight from Tacloban, Leyte.

First time to be at NAIA Terminal 3. It has always been Terminal 1 or 2 or 4 for the few times I have flown. Christmas decorations were in the middle of being setup since it was mid-November.

First time to fly Cebu Pacific. I kinda avoided the airline before because of the notoriety of delayed flights. But hey, other airlines have had delays too so why not give it a try. And guess what, the MNL-TAC flight arrived at the destination airport about 15 minutes ahead of schedule. AHEAD of schedule.

That ain’t me

It would have been nice to get a window seat. Cheapskate me decided to save a few hundreds and spend it instead on food 😂.

Robinsons North Tacloban is a newer branch of the mall chain in the city. Sadly, the other one – Robinsons Tacloban, was damaged by a fire incident a few weeks back and was still closed during my time of visit. It was near my friend’s house.

From the outside up to the interiors, you do feel that the mall is one of the newer ones. More of an asymmetrical design (no longer box type structure), more glass, lots of details in the interior, colors.

My friend showed me a column where one of the Pintados, the tattooed warriors of pre-Hispanic Leyte, was painted. She told me that the mall’s design was inspired by the tattoos.

Here’s some Christmas Trees that were part of a food tasting event in the atrium.

After the short stop, we went to Ocho’s for dinner.
