Leyte 2019: [07] Origins Authentic Tea

Pei Pa Koa Milk Tea??? I just had to try that!

Good timing, I was craving milk tea whilst having a mild sore throat. It cancels out right? Watching them prepare it, they actually poured the pei pa koa syrup from the bottle into the milktea cup. Legit.

Sooo it tasted like..mild cherry? Is this what they mean when people say cherry is “lasang gamot” (tastes like medicine) haha.. Anyway it was okay, a bit different. Would like to have a more pei pa koa flavor and stronger tea taste though. Dominant flavor was milk. Sweetness level was at 50%.

My friend also bought a slightly weird flavor – Chai Masala. Unfortunately at 75% sweetness level, I didn’t taste the masala, and had a little hint of chai spices. Milk and sweetener was the major flavor.

The concept of having unique flavors inspired by different countries was nice, but the taste was too mild for me to set it apart from other milk teas. Actually, even the tea flavor was a little weak. Although the flavors might have been intended to be mild since the market might not like the unusual taste?
