When your schedules finally align and coincidentally there’s also a buy 1 take 1 on Xiao Long Bao, better have that reunion at Din Tai Fung! My former officemates and I met up for dinner. They are have also resigned and our new offices are quite close to each other. Oh, we also celebrate our birthdays on the same month.

Hot and Sour Soup

A classic soup to start the meal, while waiting for our noodles and xiao long bao.

Machang Noodles with Sesame and Peanut Sauce

Reminding me of a sweet peanut sauce I tasted in a noodle joint, I ordered this one. But this isn’t sweet though. More of a roasted peanut taste combined with sesame, the sauce had a strong taste. You have to consume it immediately or else the sauce hardens into a paste when it is cold. Too bad this flavor didn’t jive well with the xiao long bao. This is good, but just don’t eat it together with the xiao long bao. Better have the spicy noodle for that purpose.

Xiao Long Bao

We enjoyed this buy 1 basket of 5pcs pork xiao long bao, and get another basket of 5 for free! So we got 2 baskets of 5pcs, and got another 2 baskets of 5pcs. Twenty pcs in total.

Sweet and Sour Chicken (small order)

And we thought we would still be hungry, we ordered this small order of sweet and sour chicken. Thin breaded strips of chicken coated in an orange (red orange?) sauce. Small cuts make cure that there is sauce and meat and crunch in every bite.
