Bacon Clam Chowder in Bread Bowl

We are always on the lookout for the best clam chowder. If we see it on the menu, we order it! This one is served in a bread bowl which contained the soup. Some bread bowls are too chewy/tough to bite but this one still had a soft quality to it. There are lots of vegetable chunks and clam meat. You get a whiff of herbs every time you stir. The thick and creamy consistency is best to comfortably warm you up. I loved the consistency of the soup and the amount of clam/vegetables in it, but I was looking for more seafood taste and aroma. If it weren’t for the clam meat, I wouldn’t know from the soup that it was clam chowder. It turned out later though, that it was the best soup to complement our orders which all had strong flavor profiles. This soup cleansed the palate every spoonful.

Creamy Truffled mushroom & Double Seared Bacon Bucatini Pasta

Loved this! Truffle pasta is another menu item we always try out. The amount of truffle aroma is just right and the taste is not overpowering the other components of the pasta. You can taste the sharpness of the cheese and not just a bland cream sauce. Bacon and mushrooms as topping made this dish more interesting.

Steel Plate cooked Garlic Butter “Salpicao” Steak

Medium doneness for this one. The meat is just right for this type for salpicao – it wasn’t a melt in your mouth type of beef, but it wasn’t tough nor dry either. You get to savor the soy based marinade every time you chew on the meat. The garlic cloves actually tasted good – all mushy and flavor packed, marinated along with the beef.

Tinapa Monggo Stew

Oh, lutong bahay comfort food! The salty tinapa mixed in with the creamy texture of the monggo stew is a great combo. It would be perfect with rice. The crispy chili leaves on top is also a good addition.

Lechon Kawali Cracklings

Need I say more?

Apple pie

A mini apple pie served on a mini skillet. I thought it would be a slice from a bigger pie. Green and red apples were still crunchy unlike the soft stewed apples you get in other pies. Topped with crumble, mantekado ice cream, and whipped cream with cheese. Didn’t taste any cinnamon on this one. Good to drink tea or coffee with it.

Hazelnut Cold Brew

Smells like sweet hazelnut, but tastes like black coffee with milk (no sugar). I like this one. If you are looking for something like a frappe, get different drink since this isn’t like the sugary caffeinated drinks even if it has “hazelnut” in it.
