Food: Cazuela – Spanish Style Team Dinner

Spanish-Latin dishes cooked and served in a ‘Casserole’ – nah, not everything was served in a cazuela (the Spanish translation of casserole). This was another one of those month end team dinners during the first half of 2019. Quite a few seats on the first floor, but they have a loft area for a more private dining place. Maybe you could reserve the whole spot if you are dining as a big group.

The Food:

So…. honestly I cannot remember much about the details since this was well over a year ago. But here’s what I remember:

Camaron ala Plancha

Neatly lined up with a green or red herb on top, this appetizer could very well double as a viand for two (or one, depending on how much you eat). Dip it in sauce for flavor.

Lengua

One of my favorite Spanish dishes since the first time I tried one. I sometimes forget the fact that it’s made of Ox tongue while eating. This order came with side salad.

Paella Negra

Black from squid ink, with seafood mixed in, all drizzled with mayo on top. Squeeze in a few drops of lemon to cleanse any fishy taste you have in there, and voila a meal good on its own. Today is one of those days that I prefer this over the tomato based paella.

Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu

Alternating spoonfuls of these cakes was a play on the balance of the coffee cream from the tiramisu and the heavy chocolate from the other one.

Nice place to have some sangria and tapas while catching up with friends after office hours at Sapphire Bloc Ortigas. Here’s the complimentary popcorn while you wait for your food:
